Wow! Safina is a rising star... Maybe a future #1?

She has won several titles in 2008 and was in the French Open Finals. She has shown amazing form. Do you think she is a potential #1? What will her ranking be at the end of 2008? Do you think she can win the U.S. Open or any slams? By the way, she is 8 in the world right now.
 
Well it's there for the taking for whomever can really take the chance. Safina is very good and having a brilliant year. I have said on here before I don't think it is far off before she wins her first Grand Slam.

Womens tennis is mediocre at the moment and needs someone to take it by the scruf of the neck. Safina in any other age wouldn't be a no.1 but right now there is every chance it could happen.

Personally, I'd like to see Kuznetsova step up to the mark. She has everything in her game but just needs to sort her head out.

I think I make Safina my outsider for the US. There is no clear favourite for me but I agree with you. Safina has just as good a chance as anyone else.
