I definitely need a climax for my story, it's totally lacking. The story revolves around the main character: a girl, who is very off beat and not really understood by anyone thus far. She has a lot of quirks and quips, but I haven't really specified them just yet. Her name is Grace. She has a real passion for something in life (I have recently decided she likes to cook, but I'm not sold on the idea yet.) but her parents overlook it frequently, and are assuming she will go to college for something that has great salary like a anesthesiologist. She instead, meets this boy who moves in across the street in an old flat who is very kept to himself, but is very witty and quirky like her, and also not accepted by his peers or parents. His name is Jack Daniels, named after the beverage because his parents were drunk through his conceiving and most of when his mother was pregnant with him, (as was with his sister, who also is named after an alcoholic drink, but I don't know of one to pick...) His parents gambled and got rich off of it and left him and his sister to live in their deceased uncle's house in the suburbs in Texas.(Where he lives across the street from Grace, who knows none of his parents, but just his first name. She never goes inside his house, really, so she thinks his parents are just inside, when really they don't live with him and his sister at all.) Because his mom was drunk, he suffered light symptoms of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, making him a tad clumsy, very imaginative, and just a tad eccentric, but competent in all definitions. He has poor fine motor skills, and can't write for long periods of time or his hands will shake, but he wants to write and direct movies because he loves to watch movies. A few scenarios that happen are things like he sneaks into her room with her one night to stay up all night watching movies with her, as they become best friends, and soon fall in love. So he has very outlandish clothing choices and very strange habits and is just a quirky cute baby-faced guy. I got the inspiration for Jack's character's personality and look from Sam from Benny & Joon... here: http://www.youthink.com/quiz_images/quiz1126outcome5.jpg but I didn't want to copy his clothing / hair exactly...although, I've heard clothes don't make much a difference in stories if they're just like another stories. But I did want to make him look very similar, just maybe minus the cane. I LOVE the hat and suspenders and high pants though. He's still got to look attractive, and not grubby...somewhat 30's looking, very classy. But also, he wears alot of flannel shirts, and modern clothes, but also wears quirky stuff mixed in. He's cute enough that he can relate and eventually fall in love with Grace, but weird enough that he's an outsider and is made fun of by others. I also can't decide what kind of hair he should have. I just need some ideas for quirks of Jack's and other things that lead to the big PROBLEM in the story...a very innocent story, over all. I don't need answers, I would just like someone to help me brainstorm...I feel as though I might copy a story already told by accident. Thank you to anyone who helps.
