I just downloaded the XviD Component for Quicktime on my Mac because videos that I thought were .avi actually had an XviD codec. I don't really know what much of this actually means, but I knew I needed to download the component, so I did, but I'm having trouble getting it to actually work. The instructions say:

"To install this component, just drag the File "XviD_Codec 1.0 alpha.component" into Library/QuickTime. The Library directory can be found either at your home directory (to install just for the actual user) or at the top-level of your startup volume (this needs an administrator account). DO NOT PUT IN: /System/Library/QuickTime."

Where can I find the Library/Directory, and if I don't have one, how do I make one? I'm not exactly savvy when it comes to videos or Quicktime, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
