sim card for T mobile phone ?

My contract with T mobile iis not up for another year and a half and I want to buy a different used phone. Can I switch the sim card into a used phone….and if you can will it work right away or do you have to have the new phone activated?
 
Just take the sim out of the phone,put in the other (must be for the same system,using sim),then start using,no activation,nothing,everything is already in the sim.

Hi sure you can switch your t-mobile sim into a used phone only if it is unlocked one .Else if the phone is locked to some other network provider then you can't use any other GSM sim in it until you unlock it .You can easily unlock your phone using sites like Unlocking4Free.com they are generating network unlock code for some older mobile models at free of cost .After unlocking the phone you can freely use it with any GSM sim .
