Oh, so, dynamic means it chnages from time to time?

Not sure what Rogers is...a small ISP or something so I can't answer that part.

A static IP address is one that does not change and is assigned to you by the ISP. You have to manually enter in the IP information. A dynamic IP is where your computer automatically gets the IP from the ISP via DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server. It is a leased IP address that is issued to your computer for a given amount of time and eventually expires (in most cases), Then you will get a different after the current IP lease expires.

rogers is the LARGEST ISP in canada.

and they offer both, by default they give static but a simple call to tech support and they can change it to dynamic

Rogers is the Leading service provider of Wireless and cable with High speed Internet for both Home and Office purpose. This provides you both Static as well as Dynamic IP address. To know whether your IP is Dynamic or Static, visit Ip-details.com . Now turn off or reset your modem. Again switch on your modem back and check the IP address. Static provides no changes and Dynamic makes IP changes.
