How can I update/backup/sync my Iphone to another compute?

My desktop computer that I normally use to sync my Iphone seems to have a virus or something, because it turns off by itself after a while. It does not give me enough time in between it being on and turned off by itself, to complete syncing, backing up or updating. I want to recover my computer therefore losing everything.

What can I do to start hooking up my iphone without losing my apps and settings? Can I move an itunes folder from my desktop to an external harddrive? I don't know what to do, thank you for any help!!!

I have a laptop and an external hard drive (my music and photos are on the external hard drive)

All your purchased music you'll be able to transfer over with no problem. When you connect it to itunes under the same

authorized account as your old laptop, it will tell you it detected purchased music and ask if you want to transfer it over.

As for non-purchased music a google search should return what you are looking for. Personally I've never used and of the

product but I know if you search the forums a few have been suggested.

Yes you can but you'll be asked to make your secondary machine your main. Any contacts, music, apps, contacts not stored on your laptop + user setting will not restored. But you can re-download apps & iTunes song.

I was in a similar situation when iOS 3 was released. I was curious about the new OS so I updated w/ my secondary & then when I got back home I did a restore w/ my MP to make it my primary again. PITA but worth it b/c the curiosity was killing me.

well, you must install iTunes in your new computer frist. Upgrade the iTunes to the latest and need to sync iPhone on the old computer for the last time. Also u needs to deauthorize iTunes on the old pc. Copy the entire My Music folder from the old computer to the new computer. Then, connect your iPhone to the new computer and begin to sync. Re-setup any preferences (where to sync music, photos, videos, contacts etc…) and re-sync again on the pc and authorize the new iTunes. :close look:
