It runs and the track will move if I bring it up to 5000 rpms. but it will only move if I have some one lift the the track off the ground but when I sit on it and give it gas the sled will move only a foot or so and bog out. What might be the problem??

im trying to install new brake light switch behind the brake pedal and read on the internet to place into keyslot and turn clockwise,i cannot get the switch to stay in ,i know the brake has to be fully depressed in order to fit plunger into the bracket,,is there some trick to install this?
