booster not a master cylinder how? would i know if the booster is going bad or gone bad and how would i be able to tell if it was actually my brake pads or my booster

It's kind of sluggish, so I want to replace the 1.0 liter 3cyl with a 7.4 liter V8. Will the factory transmission bolt up to the 454? I don't want this to be more than a day project because I'm a busy man.
