im changing the alternator on my vauxhall astra tomorrow morning, just wanted to know if anyone had any previous experience or tips to help make the job a little easier? its an astra 1.7 tdi x reg cheers dudes

i highly recommend taking it somewhere...if im not mistaken your alternator is on the passenger side of your engine and it is an absolute pain in the behind to get the serpentine belt back on afterwards seeing as the tension pulley is under the car....

im having trouble with my alternator on my bug, iv found the field wire to it, and iv hooked it up to the d+ side of the alternator, and for some reason the metal nut that holds the pulley on is magnetized, why is it doing this, or is that normal?
