Why won't my anti-virus let me install some programs on my computer like ares...

Will a torrent be safe on my computer if i have antivirus & antimalware programs?
Since I can't use Limewire anymore I was thinking of using a torrent to get my music. I'm really worried though because I downloaded a virus once from downloading music but i was able to fix my laptop. I have AVG (free) antivirus and also malwarebytes anti malware.. Why does Trend Micro Antivirus keep popping up?
I have Trend Micro antivirus, every time it finishes scanning it pops up on my screen and disturbs me in the middle of what i am doing, it does so at least 20 times per day, is there any way to stop this? Because i dont want to uninstall it -
