What are destinction between the authentic and the fake ones?

I have a 2004 vw beetle and today after a huge downpour, i noticed on the inside in the back seat area water was leaking through the roof, right about where the antenna is placed and was running down the ceiling to the back window. What should I do about this. I can't afford to get it fixed.
