I remember it was about a man (maybe a hunter?) who finds this (mythical?) beast and he was describing it and in awe of it. I also remember the creature as being lion-esque and the book was illustrated. In one picture I remember the man standing afar off and the beast was next to a waterfall...
So basically it was a blue game with yellow pieces. You had to put all of the yellow pieces into the game before time ran out or it would bounce and all the pieces would fly out. I hope that makes since.
