I have a Phenom I 9850 X4 @ 2.5 Ghz. I set my computer to shut down at 70-75C. I was just wondering how hot that processor should get, and what a safe temperature range is.
I just a bought a new processor (intel core 2 duo e6600) for my dell dimension 5150 desktop pc. I have checked that it supports my chipset and socket however when I install it, the computer does not turn on. Are there any solutions to this problem. please help. any suggestions will be appreciated.

please provide some links to benchmarks showing the difference CPU makes in games. I think it's more cost efficient to upgrade my videocard instead of the CPU but would like to see how much difference the CPU could make.
