whenever i insert the disk,my pc dosen't recognize the DVD.Can you help me?

I'm just wondering on my Toshiba Satellite A110-140 does anyone know if the DVDRW is replaceable or is it soldered to the motherboard.

I have got films that I have downloaded from Utorrent that I would like to put onto DVD, I thought it had worked - it said it had on my PC but wouldn't play in my DVD player. The disc were x8 4.7gb DVD-R discs.

Previously I saved my mpg music files - songs- to Zip Disk, but each disk is only 100MB. Can I save my songs - 8 GB - to DVD-RW and transfer them back to my computer at a later date?

When I insert my new blank DVD-RW disc it isnt picked up, my computer will not reconize it at all therefore I cannot do anything with it...please help.
