    BMW 318 E36 wont rev past 4500 revs in first gear.?

    Hi, I've just bought an L reg BMW 318i S E36 and on the way home I tried to see what it could do and it wont rev past 4500 revs? On the dial it just bounces and it sounds like I've taken it to 6000 revs. It's got 12 months MoT and full service history. What could be causing this? Thanks...

    what insurance group is a BMW E36 316i?

    I havent got the car yet, im just looking for one. Its an E36 so would be 1990-1998 and a 1.6L petrol engine. A rough guess would be better than nothing!
