When you are converting divx to dvd format are you compressing or uncompressing?

I always thought it was being compressed, but the space on the disc is reduced cuz once converted it is using more data on the disk. Just a quick question.

What format do older dvd players read?

I have a dvd which plays fine on our dvd, but won't play on my friend's dvd player. It's saved as an mpeg. Someone told me older players only read DVD Video (or NTSC Compatible MPEG2 format). It's already in mpeg form though, so are these two different formats? I tried converting it to a VOB...

is there any DVD player that supports NTFS format?

why wont my sony ericsson w20i format my micro sd card 4gb?

Is there a blu-ray player with multi-region for Standard DVD format playback?

I want to be able to play my region 1 standard format DVDs on a Blu-Ray player (I am not interested in unlocking the region for Blu-Ray playback). Is there a Blu-Ray player on the market that either comes with multi-region standard DVD format playback, or that can be easily unlocked ?
