In the last year or so, whenever I play a DVD on my Compaq laptop, the DVDs image that is being played slows right down (so it is out of sync with the sound) and then suddenly speeds up to catch up again.

I have a DVD of 24 season 1 and the image is pretty poor. It has like spotty, speckeled, snowyness in it. Like tvs with analogue signals and bad reception. How can I make my image quality better?

I can copy a system image of my hard drive to another hard drive but when I try to copy to DVD's it's as if there's nothing in the backup program to deal with taking a full DVD out of the player and putting a blank one in the computer. It's gotta take several DVD's. My parents got a new computer...
