I Google it there are many websites that offer good software like Skype and other browsers and etc. But I have no idea how to install it even if I put usb cable in. help!!!

ok so i have windows xp an every time i plug in my imprint it says:
the hardware was not installed because the wizard could not find the nessary software.
what does that mean? is it because i have metro pcs? all i want to do i to put my music on my computer.
I'm getting an LG Imprint from Metro pcs tomorrow and I would like the know if I can get ringtones for this type of phone because I heard you can't, is that true?
