I am 13, but I like reading adult books and challenge myself intellectually. I am starting to look into sci fi novels. Are there any good sci fi books that aren't just about "space invaders" or something like that, but still thrilling.

Where an alien species tries to take over earth or humans. Something similar to War of the Worlds. Another book that comes to mind is Stephenie Meyer's The Host, which I might read in a few months.
Any suggestions?

skin-factor cover trend? Does a cover that has nudity/sex on it influence your novel buying? Does an erotic cover help to sell you the book? Or do you prefer something more arty? Or something else entirely? Or do you go right for the synopsis of the book 1st? Any thoughts?

the only ones i have read are the sin city ones and the watchmen. im looking for stories that are mature. i heard good things about Y the Last Man, The Walking Dead, and Fables. do you think they are good reads and what else do you know of?
