are oem disks the same as Original disks. my friend sold me it but said he didn't have disks

i own a Pioneer AVH P5000 dvd player and i had the bypass switch so i can watch movies while driving but recently there is no picture just sound. there is not even a message warning me about driving while a movie is playing like before, any ideas? maybe the E brake cable is grounded? plz help...
