I want to have some kind of alert when i recieve a new e-mail , without having to open yahoo mail. On my desktop or rocket dock, i don't know.

i have the motorola defy smart phone on telus and for some reason i can't receive picture messages (or mms). i used to be not able to send or receive pictures, but now i can send but still not receive. i don't want to 'unlock' my phone or anything like that but i need help!!!
