I'm using the full Xilisoft DVD ripper to rip rented DVDs. I put in a dvd in, click add files and then a huge list of files appear. there's at least 30 that are around 500MB in size, so there's no way I'd rip them all, so I select the biggest (512MB), rip that, but I can only watch like two...
I bought a DVD(Not rent, own) and i don't want to buy it again from Apple. I want to watch it on my iPod on a road trip, we don't have a DVD player in my dad's new car.
Then again its legal to rip CD's you own to put on your iPod. So i guess its the same.

and is that something people actually get caught doing and go to jail or pay fines for? Is it like illegally downloading music where yeah it's illegal but you're most likely not going to get in trouble?
it's not illegal to rip cds... you just pop a cd into your computer and it automatically asks...
