I just updated my Motorola Droid from 2.1 to 2.2 and I was wondering if I can revert back to 2.1 to root, or can I root while still running 2.2?

I just finished jailbreaking my iPhone 3Gs to a custom iOS4 firmware. The first step I wanted to take was changing the default root password. The only way I know how to do this is by using the MobileTerminal App. Unfortunately this app was just updated last week for iOS4 and is still unstable...
