i have t-mobile and i just got a new phone the samsung gt s5230 touch screen and everytime i try to get on the internet on it it says define connection setting and i cannot figure out why it wont work it will not even let me get picture mail

So im thinking about getting unlocked Samsung S5230 from amazon so i wouldnt have to sign 2 year contract and all that crap. My current sim card is prepaid, do you know if its gonna work on unlocked samsung? thanks:)
