putting the car in stop. Idea? I feel the car jump a little bit and it just dies. It always restarts when I turn it on again, but why is this happening?

Its my moms car and she drove it around all day with no problems until she was on her way home and it started shaking badly and died. It starts up fine but as soon as you put it in gear it dies... i recently changed the fuel filter and oil. A friend said it might be the fuel pump.

I stays on in neutral but in reverse or drive it shakes then stalls. I was having a P0740 Code so we changes the transmission oil and filter. Now it wont go into gear without shutting off. What could this mean? The trasnmission was rebuilt about 4 years ago and I don't want that cost again already.
