It is the foot peg style starter, its also now a 12VT system, when the pedal down it wont always start to turn over, What normally works for me is rapidly pressing the pedal up and down till it starts to turn over.

I have a 78 1/2 ton chevy. right now it has a 12 bolt corporate rear end and a dana 44 front end. I would like to swap out my 12 bolt rear for a 14 bolt 3/4 ton rear end. do I have to change the front end with the rear? If so what would be the best front end?
