1,300 Best Public High Schools in America

School I'm at right now isn't even on the list. The school I'm going to next year is 425.

How about the OP goes through this thread and makes a list in goodness order of which HS's ST goes to and how many go there.

Just an idea.

How do you get into a public school? I thought the point was they are open to the public.

OR: does it require a test but no tuition so they put it on the list anyway?

Requires a standardized test that gives you a score. Your score determines what specialized high school you can get into(Styvesant, Bronx Science, Brooklyn tech, etc). If your score if too low you don't get into any of them.

Back in 2003 my mom wanted to move to FL. Since I didn't score high enough to get into Bronx Science(The school I wanted to go to, Brooklyn tech was so damn far away and none of my friends were going there) I said fuck it and agreed. One of the biggest mistakes of my life.

I just got into a similar school in Chicago, I'd be leaving a ton of friends behind and have a huge ass commute to the city every day. Hard decision.

Hope it works out man. Though I don't know the details of your situation, I think you made the right move. Moving to FL was one of the biggest fucking mistakes of my life.

Though the public I'd go to is one of the best in the state, and would have about an equal academic program.

sweet. 2 texas schools in the top 4. it's a retarded stat, though. they should have used the "E&E" instead of the "index" to rank them. or at least some combination. attempted tests is retarded, cuz schools like mine require us to take the tests, even though we don't really know anything on it. lol good times my senior year
