110v AC to 12v DC convertor needed!?

I need a convertor that can take 110 AC (wall outlet) and convert it to 12v DC (automotive).
I prefer it to have alligator clips at the 12v supply end as I'm using it to test stuff.
Not sure what I need and what amp unit to get. I want to test everything from a single light bulb to ???
Is there such thing as an adjustable amperage unit?

there are lab power supplies that are adjustable voltage and current other than this cb radio power supplies are at 13.8 volts dc to run light bulbs or heavy loads you will need a decent p/s to do it i.e 25 amps continous output.
