Well I usually don't use my laptops battery at home.. I simply just plug it in at home through the 19.5V DC connected on the back of the Sony Vaio laptop.. Sometimes when Im messing around with it on my couch, and I lift it up to put on my lap, the cord will turn or tug a bit.. and sometimes that causes my Sony to shut down.. It seems kind of touchy cuz I aint hitting it that hard.. It dont happen all the time.. maybe once a day and I use this computer alot..

What could it be? The actual connection in the laptop, or can it be the cord itself? The computer is used, 1 yr old.. and the people I bought it off were not strangers, they were friends, and I know for a fact they didn't use this computer very much.

At one year old the battery should hold charge so I wouldn't suspect the incoming DC from the mains adaptor is getting interrupted. I would open it up and unplug and then reconect every cable going to the motherboard. This could be all it needs. If that doesn't fix it you might have a hairline crack on one of the circuit boards (most likely the motherboard).

The battery must not hold a charge and when you jiggle the wire there must be a short inside and it stops power to the computer and it shuts down because the battery wont hold a charge.
