HI Im looking at vw bus and i don't know anything about this buses. what i want to know is how hard would it be to fix the fuel gauge and whats a engine over haul. its a stick and needs some tlc oh one more thing can their be look a likes vw buses if so what would they look like. i haven't bought the bus just yet and this what he wrote and not sure to get it or should i go with the beetle same year but close, i want the one most reliable one,(It has a 914 Porsche engine with Dual Carbs. Which is a step up in horse power vs. the stock engine. It has a whole new sound system. sometimes takes a little while to start when cold but always does, could use engine overhaul, lights work, horn works, fuel gauge doesn't work, Just needs some tlc. Could be restored or just made into whatever you want, endless possibilities.) thanks for your help

sounds like you dont know enough about cars to tackle these old cars with problems like they have.

if you choose one, the beetle is the better option, there's a much better parts supply for them. check the floors for rust. if it's bad, you dont want it--unless you can weld. and i suspect you cant.

the buses are a pain in the butt. they share the same engine as the beetle, usually--but the body parts and other parts (think, gas pedals and odd things that break or go missing) are harder to get.

both are great resotoration projects for some one who knows how.
