1994 Acura integra overheating randomly?

We just bought the car and then found out it had no thermostat in it ad almost empty on coolant. So we changed all that and the car gas been fine for a few days. Then all the sudden it's started over heating and goes down a little while revving the engine or small steady acceleration through the gears. We also have a little bit of white smoke coming out the exhaust and a strong gasoline odor/ fume smell.

check the level on the coolant...open your radiator cap turn the car on and look inside it,if you see the water and it doesnt go down then lack of coolant isnt your problem,if the cap is empty continue to add coolant while the car is on until it fills,make sure the radiator has no leaks if it does consider buying a new one...for the gas odor it could be the catalytic converter
