...,new mtr $3000. used mtr $1500? replaced heads on motor about 3mnths ago, now have a rod knocing and metel in the oil pan.. $3000 for new motor , or $1500 for a used. the new one has a 3yr 100,000 mile warry. the used has no warry. the truck is paid for, but probally only worth about $6000, just worried if i spend all this money the tranny is next, any advice.. truck has 153,000 miles now..
 
Why not get a new or rebuilt short block and install your new heads and top end on it? You can get a blueprint engines 350 four-bolt main engine for $1695. Or a new GMPP long block 260hp 350 with a warranty for $1569.95. Or a brand new GM 200hp 350 with GM warranty for $1859.95. Check out these deals at Summit.com.
 
Yeah $3,000 is way out of line. Factory GM and new are less than that.
