1998 BMW 318is VS the 1998 BMW 318i?

I want to know if there's a difference other then the 2door, and if I go to register the car are they gonna claim it as a 318i or do they HAFT too look for the 318is, because in the Canadian Red book and stuff, I can't find the 318is, only the 318i

P.S If it's not in the Canadian Red Book, what do I do?
