I have a 1998 BMW 528 with 156K miles and needs a new transmission. Its been checked by a couple of transmission specialists and all of them are saying that the car looks good and has another 100K miles in it, so go for a rebuilt tranny at $3500 (parts and labor) with 2yr warranty.
Wanted to get the community's answer to this dilema. Do I invest $3500 in a car worth close to $6K or do I let someone take it off my hands for $1-2K?
