1998 jeep cherokee trany overheating?

when i drive my car during worm weahter the trany tends to leak out the vent and i was wondering is there a pump in the trany and how likely is it that the pump would go if there is one? or is it most likely the cooling system in the radiator being clogged?
 
Sounds like your tranny is simply overfull. Automatics you check the level with a dipstick. Make sure the engine is running and transmission is in NEUTRAL, not park. Set the parking brake to keep it from rolling.

If it's a manual, check the level from underneath. If it is overfull, check the transfer case to make sure fluid isn't leaking from the transfer case into the tranny.
