When your jetting is spot on and you don't flood it when you start it, there is no need to change plugs often. I change plugs when the engine becomes hard to start or when it starts to run poorly. Usually, once a year is when I change plugs.
I do remove the plug and check the jetting often to ensure proper fuel/air mixture.
