2002 lincoln ls-v8 where does the engine dip stick tube go?

i have spent a lot of time looking and feeling for the hole in which the engine dip stick tube goes but i have had no luck finding it. i removed it so i could replace the valve cover gasket. can you please tell me where it goes or how i can find out where it goes?
