2002 Volvo s60T Revs hard and slips into gear?

Volvo s60 2.4T 2002 (Automatic) Revs, and then seems to jam into gear, do you know why this might be? We tried a transmission fluid flush, and the guy at the dealership was saying it might be a new tranny thats needed (this was the day before Christmas during the worst part of the Recession). We thought it was bull, so did the swedish performance place we took it to. Anything you can recommend? What do you thinks wrong>?
110k miles automatic
 
is it standard or auto? cause my truck did the same thing i flushed the tranny and put a new filter and fluid and i put lucas oil additive in the tranny and it never did it again.good luck
