my parents recently gave me there 07 elantra gls with 80k on it.
I can get about 8000 for this car if I sell it. I was then looking at buying a 2003 bmw 300 series. Should i just keep the elantra or go for the bmw. Obviously the bmw will have almost twice the km as the elantra. Style is very important to me and i would much prefer the bmw. I need to get 5 years more out of whatever car I buy, with the elantra I know I won't have any worries but with the bmw I am concerned. Do bmw's typically last up to 300 000km(135mi) or will there be expensive costs along the way. What should i DO

*** about 180 000mi

Keep the Elantra, save your money, get the yourself a BMW later, (although a Benz is a much better car). No, BMWs do not generally hold up for 300K miles and you would very likely be looking at some very expensive repairs down the road. You are quite typical of a young person who has not realistically weighed what they "want" against what is logically possible. Don't feel bad, it is very common, and the time with the Elantra will provide some wisdom and experience.
