2003 vw passat with a p0300 code?

car runs really rough at low rpms checked all the coils with a new one and one was skipping sparks here and there but made no differance when changed also unpluged maf and no change not sure where to go from there exhast smells normal was told that as long as there is still a little suction on oil cap then vacuum lines are fine and not sure if its a sensor or not also plugs were changed about 6000 mile ago.
