I am car shopping, (know very little about cars and stuff), I want something small with good to avg. mpg., a 2001-2006, low mileage or at least not super high, that is all under $8000.

Went car shopping and fell in love with this 2004 Rally Yellow (fav color) Automatic Sunfire. They are offering to sell at $7000 for it. I took it home (they said I could test drive it over night) and looked it up on CarFax. It's been in 1 left side impact accident but it doesn't say it has any structue damage and the only thing I found on the left side is a ding in the back left bumper.

Also it makes this rattling/clicking noise ONLY when its idle and ONLY while it is in Drive 1,2, or 3 (does not make sound in P, R, N) and it stops as soon as you push the gas just the tiniest bit.

So questions, Should I buy this car?

is it a good deal/worth it?

Does anyone know what that weird rattle noise is?
Jack of Trade: Well I didn't mean to...its just really really cute! But if it's not worth it I won't buy it's not like I am just going to buy it cause I really like it. I need to know that its sound investment

Ist of all never fall in love with any car. They are not known as good cars. My advice is to move on to another car. Find a used Corolla or something to that effect, you will be alot happier. When you can afford better then seek a cool looking car, as for now with your budget you need a dependable car.

The Sunfire is not noted to be a good vehicle. Read the reviews at any of the automotive sites like Edmunds or KBB. They look ok but that's where the appeal stops. The previous "side impact" may explain the noises.
