After turning the car on, the car sounds like it 'overgasses' first gear until it gets to second gear. There is no sensation of slipping or feeling of loss of acceleration, it just sounds like its giving more gas than it should in 1st gear. After the engine reaches 2nd gear for the first time, there is no more issue of overgassing/revving in 1st, or any other, gear. From that point forward, it takes what sounds like a normal amount of gas to accelerate to 2nd gear. Has anyone experienced this or know what's going?
John,

It's not that it accelerates by itself, it just seems to give too much gas when I depress the pedal, but only in 1st gear and only until the first time 2nd gear is reached after turning the car on.

i think i see what you mean. are you saying that if you put the car in Drive, it will slowly take off by it self (and even shift into 2nd) if you take your foot off the brake? if not, then i dont understand your question. if yes, check for a binding throttle cable/ or faulty electronic throttle body (doesnt use a cable), a bad throttle position sensor or speed sensor (would show a check engine light) it sounds like a hard problem to describe over the web. good luck.

I second JOHN C with the TPS Sensor, Speed sensor is electronic so as long as your speed it displayed properly on the dash that should be fine

I'd say it sounds like your transmission is slipping. Jeeps are known for transmission problems. Might want to have the Jeep dealer look at it. They'll have plenty of time to help you, based on Chrysler sales numbers.
