2006 SUZUKI BOULEVARD C50 or 2005 Honda VT750C Shadow 750 Aero?

The Honda would probably be the better choice for reliability over time. But if your looking to put a really big smile on his face, surprise him with the Suzuki. It's much more stylish and masculine

Both nice bikes, but how tall is he? I think, and this is totally my personal opinion, that the Suzuki is a better looking bike than the Honda, the Honda has more power though. If I was looking at another bike, I would have to go with the Yamaha Roadstar. I owned a 2005 Roadstar Silverado for over 4 years and had zero problems with it. Very comfortable, quick and handled great. The only reason I traded it in was to get a full blown tour bike and even then I chose the Yamaha Royal Star Venture. I've owned many bikes over the years and have never gotten a bad Yamaha product. Again, just my opinion and I'm not bashing any other bike. They're all good. Just make sure whatever you get fits him, his riding style and his experience.

I'd go with the Honda. I've owed a few bikes to say the least and the Honda's have proved to be indestructible
