Today after leaving the library, my boyfriend drove my jeep and accidentally left the parking brake on for about 3/4 mile. I smelled something funny but it went away after we put the brake down.

I tried the brakes after and they were fine. Do you think I should have it checked out?

bad boyfriend, bad,bad boyfriend. you should spank him later for being a rookie. No do not worry, the fact that you caught it quickly makes a huge difference, so more than likely its going to be fine, they got a little warm which is what you smelled, but 3/4 of a mile is no big deal. good catch there by the way, it really cooks and glazes the rear brakes badly if the E brake stays on for a long time, the fact that you were right on top if it says a lot. And why is some guy driving your jeep? was he not smart enough to buy his own jeep or what?

It shouldn't have hurt anything. What you were smelling was just the brake pads burning (normal). The worst that could have happened is you could have warped the rear brakes (you would know from the vibrating pedal, or stopping). Or you could have worn your rear pads down a little.
