I have never ridden a motorcycle before. But I have spent limited time on atvs I had a very bad wreck but still got back on. I respect these machines and I would very much like to get into riding motorcycle because of the fuel efficency and because it has been something that I have wanted to do for a very long. I am 19 years old, weigh in at about 280 (not muscle unfortunatly) and am almost 6' (that means 5'11"). I am looking for a beginer bike that can handle me and won't have people looking at me like I am stupid. I live right off of the blue ridge parkway and want something that would be fun on that and also something that can take me from my home to work everyday (20 mile per day maybe a little more). I live in north carolina too so I would like to be able to ride when it snow and rains so any help would be very helpful thank you soo much.

P.S. the reason the intruder is on the list is because the guy at the shop I went to has one for sale for 2200 and it seems like a good deal. Thanks again

i started street riding on a 200cc suzuki dual purpose bike and was able to get stuff done just fine and that's smaller than the rebel.if you learn on a smaller bike like that its a whole lot less forgiving than a mid-range bike. especially around north carolina, the 800 intruder is also an excellent bike because of the power but id really recommend starting with something used around the 200 to 650 cc range the smaller the more beginner friendly plus since its used you can usually sell if or trade it in for about the same value and 200 and 250s are excellent on mpg. then ride it for a couple of months get used to the rode riding in traffic curves etc then if you feel the need to get a bigger bike sell or trade up.
