We have a litter of 5 chihuahua/pug mixed puppies. They are very healthy and playful. I started the weaning process and now the mom won't sleep with them at night. I've had them in a baby pool since they were born and they aren't big enough to jump out all the time, but they are able to jump out occasionally which is fine because I puppy proofed my house. The problem I'm having is every morning at 5 am they wake up and scratch and whine to get out of the pool. I don't mind getting up with them because I know that is a sacrifice you have to make when you have puppies and I don't mind, but my fiancee is getting very upset! I put the mom in their bed with them and sit next to it so she will feed them and they fall asleep... then they wake up at 7 and it happens again! Like I said, I don't really mind but my fiancee gets pretty angry and it causes us to fight and he says I smother them. What should I do? Should I take them out of the pool and move them to the bathroom with a doorway gate? They're only like a couple of pounds and tiny so they have plenty of room in the pool. I just don't know if it is cruel to keep them in there or if they should be in a gated room? I try to give them their food when they wake up in the middle of the night but they don't want it. They only want their mommy's milk. I let them run around and wear themselves out before bed but they still wake up at 5 am. I know it is a part of having puppies and I don't mind getting up with them but I didn't know if their maybe were some alternatives so that we don't fight in the morning. I appreciate any helpful help!
