94 nissan pickup rearend problem?

its the ring and pinion gears and together most people call them a chunk
its really not had to change and almost fool proof "almost"
i would say get a chiltons or haynes manual from your local auto parts store and read though it and see what you think

i have a 1994 nissan pickup truck. 2wd 2.4L 4 cylnder. the rear end started making a noise and i had it looked at and the mechanic said it needs a new chuck for the rearend. im not sure what a chuck is and would like to know if anyone knows the proper name for the part? i havent done alot of drive train work so im not as familiar with it as i am with the motor end. thanks
