I was driving my 94 Nissan Sentra when both the brake light and battery light came on simultaneously. I turned the car around and on the way home, I noticed the head lights and console lights start to dim, then radio went out, and finally accelleration gave out. I got the car off the road and when I tried to start it back up, it wouldn't start. Tried to turn the dome light on and start the car, and the dome light went dim, so obviously the battery is having issues.
I guess the main question is, since I thought the alternator supplied power to the car while the car was running, the only thing I could think of is that the car is pulling from the battery instead of the alternator. So what are the chances that the problem is the voltage regulator or alternator.
As a side note, I had driven my car perfectly fine on and off for about 5 hours, before the problem occured.
TIA,
BHM
