I went to replace the thermostat and snapped the top of one of the bolts off. I might have thrown it away or just thrown it during my fit of anger. But Im trying to figure out which size bolts I need, because the other is rusted even more than the one that broke, and i'm positive that one will break too.. Not one "auto" store around me has any idea at all of how long or what diameter I need. Any suggestions or idea of where I can find out? The engine size is a V6 3.0L.

any bolt wil do it if it wil screw in really im guessing but might be a 3/8 in size inch and a half long manybe if you got any bolts laying a round might find one no problems and if not most any parts store shoul dhave bolts even walmarts

you need to heat up around the other bolt quite a bit and work it back and forth. Tighten little bit first and if it doesnt budge apply more heat. Once you get it out, size it at the hardware store. getting a siezed boly out is alot easier that getting out a broken one! as for the bolt size prob 5/16 or 3/8. prob and 1.25'' long.

Most vehicles of that era run a standard 1/2 inch bolt that is about 1 &3/4 inch long.
If not the 5/8 larger bolt was an option. You can see the difference in the heads.
