hello i have a 96 Volkswagen jetta gls 2.0 and the engine got wet and it started shacking intensely and i got an diagnostic from my friend(mechanic) could barely drive it home but the report it said it could either be a distributor or timing belt, well i just spent 200 dollars to get a new distributor and its starts to work when the engine is cool and when it heats up it starts running bad again and i just want to know some suggestions on whats wrong with it. thank you
